Terry Atkinson

AVP – Industrial Products

Terry J. Atkinson is currently AVP – Industrial Products, where he leads a dedicated team of marketing and sales professionals within the Construction, Forest Products, and Metals commodity teams.

Terry joined UP in 2004 as a Marketing and Sales Intern and has held various full time roles within the department in both Omaha, NE and Ft Worth, TX. During his career at Union Pacific, he has spent his time leading teams, recruiting new professionals, negotiating contracts and helping customers develop new rail terminals throughout the U.S. Terry is a member and past vice president of UP’s Black Employee Network as well as a founding board member of the UP Ties (young professionals) organization in 2008. His passion for being an inspirational leader and promoter of his team members has gained him the title of mentor to many of his former employees and team members. In 2019 Terry was recognized by Progressive Railroading as a “Rising Star” in the rail industry.

Terry is a native of Louisville, KY and graduated with a Bachelor of Business in Finance from the University of Kentucky in and a Masters of Business with an emphasis in Logistics and Transportation from the University of Tennessee. When he isn’t working, Terry spends his time being an active father to his daughter, son and god-daughters and devoted husband to his wife Diana.
