NARS Announces 2020 Award Recipients

Congratulations to NARS 2020 Award Honorees!

 

The North American Rail Shippers Association (NARS) today announced the recipients of its Annual Awards which recognize leadership excellence in the rail shipping community.

 

Richard Dodd, founder and president of RDC Logistics and former NARS President, is honored with the NARS Edward R. Hamberger Lifetime Achievement Award.  Bruce Mann, Director of Freight Mobility, Port of Houston is named the 2020 NARS Person of the Year.

“At a time when the industry is faced with such unique and diverse challenges, it is important that we acknowledge and learn from those who demonstrate exemplary leadership,” said NARS president Tom Tisa.

Richard Dodd has spent his career working for multiple blue-chip companies such as American Airlines, International Paper, and ADVO.  In 2007 he founded consulting company, RDC Logistics. Over the last thirteen years Richard’s know-how attitude and real time experience has benefited clients such as Baker Hughes, Excalibur Minerals, Martin Marietta and many more with their strategic transportation plans.

Richard has served transportation organizations in a variety of capacities as he joined the SWARS Board in 2003 and served as SWARS President from 2009 -2011. He served as President of NARS from 2015-2017.

“Despite shunning any personal acclaim, Richard has earned this special recognition. He has positively influenced the successes of NARS and SWARS, and has inspired all of us who have had the pleasure of working with him through the years,” said SWARS President Dale Diulus, SVP Pozzolan, Salt River Materials Group.

Bruce Mann is recognized as a transportation industry expert with over 20 years of experience, and is a member of the Houston Transportation Club, the Houston Transportation Professionals Association, the Houston Galveston Area Council’s Technical Advisory Committee and Regional Transportation Advisory Committee, and the Greater Houston Partnership’s Committees on Freight Rail and Roadway and Mobility. He has served on the Southwest Association of Rail Shippers Board of Directors since 2013 and was elected as Secretary to the NARS Board of Directors in 2015.  He currently serves as 2nd Vice President of NARS.

“Bruce’s leadership and his dedication to NARS, SWARS and all of the NARS regional associations has helped guide the growth of the organization and benefitted our members by assuring they receive the networking and industry insights they have come to expect from the NARS organizations,”  said Tisa.
