The Midwest Association of Rail Shippers is headquartered
in the Chicago area. General membership comes from the provinces
of Manitoba and Saskatchewan and the states of Illinois, Indiana,
Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota,
Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Its objective is to provide an open forum for resolving transportation
and car supply problems, coupled with programs designed to
educate and inform the membership in areas of railroad operating
practices, new innovations in transportation and legislative
matters. Meetings are held twice a year, in January and July.
Dues are $25 per year.

JULY 13TH & 14TH, 2009 You can now download

registration
form for the 233rd meeting of the Midwest Association of Rail
Shippers. We are pleased to have Francis Mulvey Chairman of
the STB as our luncheon speaker. We are confident that our
conference represents the best educational and networking
value available.
The registration fee is $110 for members and $135 for non-members,
which includes everything except golf. There will be a reception,
the evening of the 13th, with a full day meeting on the 14th.
Gary Kearby of ARL Leasing (312-906-5724) will coordinate
the golf outing on July 13th. A registration form is attached,
however the payment for golf should be sent to me. The registration
fee is $100.00. The name of the outing is the Midwest Association
of Rail Shippers Scholarship Outing. All proceeds from the
outing will go to funding of the MARS Scholarship program
for deserving students.
The hotel has allocated a block of rooms from July 11th through
July 15th at a preferred rate of $140, single or double, for
the luxury lodges, run of the house. There is a three day
cancellation clause in our contract. Cutoff date for the preferred
rate is June 12th. Our group rates are also available for
three days prior and three days after our meeting, on a space
available basis.

form and send it back to me along with credit card information
or a check made out to the Midwest Association of Rail Shippers.
Also enclosed is a membership application for those who have
not paid their 2009 dues and want to pay their dues separately
from meeting registration.
A networking table will be available for company information.
Dress business casual.
We also could use new sponsors, if you would like to help
sponsor this event, please make your check payable to Midwest
Association of Rail Shippers. Again, a portion of the proceeds
from the event will fund the scholarship program.

Scholarships
Midwest Association of Rail
Shippers scholarships are offered to applicants who
are daughters, sons or grandchildren of MARS members, enrolled
as full time undergraduate students at accredited four year
colleges and universities. All applicants must show a demonstrated
commitment to the program in which they are enrolled.
